I tried it for skin appearance and it does make a difference. I read your precaution about using it for skin appearance but tried it anyhow and I have noticed it does improve appearance.
Pros: Worked as expected.
Cons: None

I was a little skeptical about light therapy. I tried my friends that he bought for $1000. It worked, or at least did something good. I then did a search and finally bought this one. It does work! If it doesn't help the condition it still feels really good with the deep heat penetration. It has really seemed to help my tendonosis of my shoulder and arm.
Pros: price
Cons: not quite ergonomic
Rating: 5 by Ellen
These LED's worked on my plantar fasciitis pain. I spent two years in pain and none of the doctors (multiple) regimens helped at all. All that time and money wasted until I tried two of the 32 array flat
LED's. It took problably 4-6 weeks to end the pain and there has been no recurrence in the last year. I use them for 1/2 to 2 hours anytime I hurt and they work!
For Christmas I recently bought one of the 36 arrays for my brother who has been on disability after a car accident. He has shoulder, neck and back pain and says the LED's are working well for him.

Pros: Great little gaget
Cons: I liked the little flat arrays better
Rating: 5 by Noa
Have been using this to diminish signs of rosacea on cheeks, could already see a positive difference and a lightening of patchy redness within several weeks of daily use. Have taken to using it on an old wrist injury as well; feels soothing during the cold winter weather.
Pros: conveniently handheld, powerful LED's, affordable
Cons: would be nice to have this in a full-face+stand
Rating: 5 by Chad
Simple, but effective. Although it has a bit of a "home made" look, it is very well built (probably much better than a mass-produced product you would get from Amazon or somewhere).
Rating: 3 by Lee
I used the red light a bit on my plantar fasciitis but got little relief from it. I haven't returned as will probably try it for issues in the future - Would not rebuy.
Pros: small, easy to use
Cons: questionable impact
Rating: 3 by bill
i have no idea if this product helped at all.
Rating: 5 by G. M.
I have found the 36 LED array reasonably priced and very effective. I have good results aiding the removable of skin defects. Some are changed very fast by the light; while others are taking a much longer period of time. Do your research and then try this Product! I am very satisfied!

I have extreme reactions to mosquito bites (severe swelling, redness, and heat emanating from the bite) and this works extremely well to treat the swelling and redness. Without the LED light box, I'd have to use a topical steroid. I use the light box for 15-30 minutes for each bite and within a day or two the swelling and heat have dissipated. The redness remains for 3-5 days but diminishes as I use the light box. I couldn't live without this during the summer months!
Pros: small and portable
Rating: 5 by Tiburd
I've been using this product on a foot injury for several weeks. Its effectiveness in promoting and speeding the healing process is evident both subjectively and objectively (after six weeks the doctor - not knowing I was using the LED array - told me that my recovery was a full week ahead of the normal schedule at that point). More recently, once I was relegated to physical therapy, the therapist has been using a virtually identical laser-based product on the foot, citing additional research supporting its effectiveness and noting that Lance Armstrong used the same treatment in his daily recovery during his last Tour de France. Note: the intensity of the much more expensive laser device appears no greater than that of this LED array, and moreover the therapist told me that it's the wavelength - not the intensity per se - that matters. Highly recommended!!!
Pros: effective, convenient, inexpensive
Cons: none

Spouse used on knee (has had surgery, but has severe arthritis) and said it surprisingly did help quite a bit, after just one use. I am using on feet for plantar fasciitis and heel bone spurs, and am hopeful. I'm not sure where to direct the light and for how long - that would be helpful to know. The instruction sheet I think just says 10 minutes up to an hour, but isn't very clear. In pt, they used ultrasound, e-stim, and some light therapy and had specific points to direct the treatment. One therapist used a little chart that pin pointed areas (I think I remember there were 4 spots) to focus her treatment. I'd like to know more information. Overall, I think it's a great idea and product.
Pros: convenient, and easy to use
Cons: we need to use an extension cord
Rating: 4 by Steve
Should be about 20% larger
Pros: Worked great
Cons: A little small
Rating: 4 by czstone
I have mild rosacea and I use it a few minutes in the morning and sometimes at night. It seems to help. I would also like a blue light in that size/price.
Pros: price
Cons: sharp corners
Rating: 4 by Franklin
Am using LED light for hard-to-heal skin lesions; seems to help but will be long process; have to keep LED a bit away from skin (right on skin seems to reduce effectiveness); overall am happy with product.

I had Plantar Fasciitis in both feet. It was darned painful and I had it for over a year. It took 3m after I saw my UK Doctor to see a NHS podiatrist that assessed my feet and gave me therapeutic exercises to do and take measurements for special insoles. It was another 3 m or so to get the special insoles supplied. I did the therapy, wore the insoles. I kept running throughout the period having bought new trainers. My feet were really painful in the morning and I preferred to stand all day rather than have more pain from sitting and getting up again. After jogging I used to chill my feet to deaden the pain with a frozen tin of baked beans which I recommend! I read about the LED device and the reseearch around it and purchased one from the USA and used it daily for 20 mins each foot while I was seated working at my pc. I pretty much think it helped as I had sensations of 'drawing' scar tissue after using it on my feet. I stopped using it after a few months because my feet were so vastly better. I am still running and though my feet feel a bit different there is no longer any pain in the morning or anytime. My doctor was sceptical, but I think it accelerated the healing process ~ after about a year or more of pain its such a relief to recover! If you are desperate you will try anything. Its a reasonably priced bit of kit and I would recommend others to try it. You can get a converter/transformer for a uk power supply from maplins. Thank you heelspurs.com !! (I am a 50 year old fit UK male btw who has been working out for over 30 years :-)
Pros: I think it really helped
Cons: I had to buy a uk transformer to use it

My doctor recommended this device for my achilles tendonitis, and noted that he was using it for his own tendonitis. It seemed to do the trick. I bought one for myself, and subsequently, I also bought one for my brother and another friend. The only problem is the housing is not comfortable to rest your achilles against. The plastic egdge is a bit on the sharp side.
Pros: cured my achilles tendonitis
Cons: device needs padding -- "sharp" plastic edge hurts
Rating: 5 by Susan
I used the LED light for about 3 months, 3-4 times a week for about 1/2 hour each time. My heel pain is virtually gone - I haven't used it since then.
Rating: 3 by Joanne
I used the medium sized one for 2 or 3 months on sore heel due to plantar fac. and heelspur. My foot did get better but I think it was a combination of this, rest, ice, and taping (still use the tape!)
Pros: easy to use
Rating: 2 by Roger
Didn't seem to help with a seriously painful heel (fasciitis caused). Went to a reputable podiatrist who gave me cortisone shot; he was (not surprisingly) skeptical about IR therapy (ice rather than heat or IR was his preference). I expect IR's efficacy is primarily from placebo effect, and most likely only with mild problems. But it may work for some, and it's painless and fairly easy to use.
Pros: Easy to use, no harm done.
Cons: Didn't have noticeable effects.
Rating: 5 by jayla603
portable and mine take on trips and can use whenever necessary. and dont have the expense of visiting the doctors office and god help you if you have to go more thane once a week it is rather expensive.
Pros: saving $25.00 each visit
Cons: n/a
Rating: 2 by Sean
I tried it in conjunction with my night splint...nothing worked. I was preparing to deploy to Iraq (again), and I ended up getting another cortisone shot (it is still working a month later).

I am not sure if this helped or not, I would/will try it again.
Pros: Fairly inexpensive
Cons: Did not seem to do much
Rating: 1 by Don
I used the device as directed (even more)for an entire month with no noticeable improvement in my condition. Sorry, but it just didn't work for me. My rating would have to be zero.

I have used this product for the last six months to reduce pain in my lower back and I have been impressed by the results. I have been so pleased with this product that I have also purchaed two of the same for my mom who also has lower back problem.
Pros: Excellent product for reducing local pains.
Rating: 3 by Karen
I can't say if this product has helped me or not. I was in a cast for 4 weeks, then I've been in a walking removable cast/boot for the last 8 weeks and I still have significant heel pain. I use my LED unit at least once a day, usually in the morning for 20-30 minutes, and also ice and tape. I'm now going to see an Energy Medicine practitioner on Monday to see if that helps.
Rating: 5 by mylar
I used the light on a partially torn achilles tendon, alternating its use with icing. Eventually I had to use only ice because the heat didn't allow the swelling to subside. Warmth sure felt good though the relief was temporary.
Rating: 4 by Steve Miller
I used use product during recovery from PF surgery on both feet. I wore it at night in a sock to hold it fairly tight to the skin, alternating it between feet every other night. I think it really helped with the healing process. I could notice a difference in the amount of pain/stiffness I experienced in the morning. I'm not sure if it was the heat that made it easier to walk in the morning or the effect from the light, either way, I believe this type of therapy is effective. I had tried every other type of tratment/product you could imagine without much success. After the surgery and using the light therapy, I am almost 100% healed after a year and a half of suffering. You have the best website/information on the subject! Thanks!

I don't have a rating yet as I need a voltage converter to use it. Unfortunately, the converter is REALLY expensive here in Norway. :(

I am very pleased with this product and will recommend it. Recently I hadn't been using it and then my ankle started hurting again. I used it one time and my ankle quit hurting.
Rating: 3 by Cheryl
Very reasonable price and excellent service.

Does the light have to be held directly against the skin to be effective? No comment on effectiveness since I just received the unit but I am very hopeful.

Given the amount of time needed to use the light, I wish there was a more mobile option.
Rating: 3 by shelley
The light feels good and I liked using it. I'm not sure that using this device, however, resulted in the diminishing of my heel pain. Rather, it was the combination of heel lifts, stretching and perhaps this that did the trick. Good luck to all!

I bought thisproduct to treat tendon problems in my forearms (golfer's elbow/climber's elbow type problems). The 36 LED Red/IR Array does an admirable job of providing short-term pain relief and long-term improvement of the condition.
Rating: 1 by Norman
Your product(s) did absolutely nothing. I truly feel as if I wasted my money.
Rating: 4 by Kevin
I bought this for my Mom because she got a minor back pain. She's been using it for about 2 months now. It helps to relieve her pain alot. But I think you have to use it for quite a long term period otherwise the pain will come back. I also used it for my foot and like it too. Good buy, try it and you'll see.

I have received no benefit from using this device for over a month 5X a week for 10 minutes each time. I am very disappointed as it was represented in such a positive light. Eileen
[ heelspurs.com comment: the unit must be used at 30 to 60 minutes a day to be beneficial as the order form and instructions state. 10 minutes per day will not show any benefit. - Scott ]

Heelspur LED units are all over my house! I use different colours for different things: Red (and Red+NIR combo) for my rosacea/facial flushing and eczema, yellow helps my gritty dry rosacea eyes, NIR works for my muscle aches and pain (and blue is proven for acne). I have cut back on some medications almost 90% -- which is a big deal. This is a first rate seller with the best pricing for LED product. No frills, just honest goodness.

I have been using this product for over 3 months. It does work well on soft tissue injuries, 1/2" below the surface. But, for deep pain, like plantar fasciatis, it has not worked for me. The price is great, it is a little uncomfortable. I am keeping it for now because it does work for injuries just below the skin.

The light therapy works very well. I have been able to get relief from pain for the first time in two years. The outside box that holds the light all together is made from some type of metal that I am allergic to. I put tape on it and that works. It is hard to keep your heel on the light for any leghth of time. It is very uncomfortable. I simply suffer through it.

"5" for value compared to other units available on line, "2" for effectiveness as I'm not sure it is helping. I've been using the LED unit for metatarsalalgia, specifically a chronically inflammed 4th metatarsal. The pain radiates into my plantar fascia. I used it consistently for 30-60 min/day for a month and then due to business travel got off track. I'm back on it now. It is easy to use during the day by keeping it under the desk and resting my foot on it while working. My condition seems to be improving slightly, but as I'm doing a number of treatments simultaneously (orthotics, massage, foot strengthening exercises), I can't say if the LED unit specifically is helping or not. The various positive studies done on the light therapy concept make me hopeful. As a competitive triathlete who has been on the injured list for 7 months, I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Noticed no difference after use.

I've been tucking the lamp under a sock and lighting up the bottom of my foot when I watch TV every night and after 2 to 3 weeks it seems like its working. I've also used one of the boots to stretch the tendon. The case design could be softened a bit on the front edges.

I don't know how it works, but it does for some reason. The science is proven to work, I tried it and it did help some.

I do not know how to rate this product as we did not need to use it afterall. The doctor diagnosed a bonespur after an xray but as it turns out it must have been an insect bite from my husbands gardening in the bushes. It was painful and swollen and he went to the doctor but by the time your product arrived, everything was fine. We believe in this type of therapy so we are saving it in case we or someone else we know may need it someday. Thanks.

the product was okay, the sides of the case make it difficult to rest your feet on to really get the full effect of the light. I wish that there was some sort of padding around the outside of the casing.

I could feel the heat from it but it didn't help the ache in my foot, however, neither has anything else. It might be great for some people, but it just didn't work for me.
Rating: 2 by Hans
In my view it's a gimmick. Any possible benefit is purely coincidental and has in my view nothing whatsoever to do with the 36 led box.
Rating: 2 by Mike W
This product didn't do anything for my foot pain. I'm keeping it around to try if I have another type of pain. At least the price was reasonable. I didn't spend a lot of money testing something that didn't help me.

The size and overall construction of the 36 LED is a dramatic improvement on the smaller, round LED I originally purchased. I recommend this product for anyone wanting to use it for heel pain.

Five years ago I had to have surgery to cope with excruciating heel pain associated with plantar fasciitis in my left foot. This summer I started experiencing the exact same intense pain/symptoms in my right foot and really felt down because I knew I would more than likely need surgery in my right foot since no treatment or time had relieved my pain five years earlier. I ask my doctor for a cortisone injection and then I purchased the 36 LED Red/ Infrared Array (as far as I know, not available five years ago). With a combination of stretching, faithful use (as many times a day as I could manage) of the 36 LED Red and coupled with the cortisone shot ~ after only two weeks my foot was 98% and after one month my foot is 100%. The only difference this time around is the 36 LED Red/Infrared Array. ~ Wish I'd had the 36 LED five years ago ~I’m a believer!

i think the light really helps but for myself i need to do something else. the light
alone wasn't enough and i currently am using stretching exercises to help. this
combo seems to be working at the moment.
Rating: 5 by Frederick
Wow!

After only three treatments my foot felt so good I forgot to continue stretching and using the lights.

Now a month later the pain has returned, but that's my fault. It will be gone soon and I now know to continue the light treatments a couple of times a week and I will continue to be fine.

(Top notch customer service, too.)

Unless you can pinpoint your pain, I would get the larger one, in spite of it's increased cost. I suggest to the manufacturer that he make a version of this product that has a lower profile, and that has no uncomfortable corners/edges on the application side of the device. I used a grinder and cut off much of the excess material from the top and shaped it into a gentle curve that still protects the diodes, but is more comfortable for my foot (I'm using it for plantar fasciitis). I haven't used it long, so I can't rate its effectiveness. There is plenty of infrared power here, the manufacturere includes the red, because it discourages the user from looking at the light for any length of time. The IR light is not good for the eye in large amounts, and the super bright red light makes you turn away, which protects your precious vision. This would also make a great night light, as the light is plenty bright enough to see by, and since it is red, it doesn't affect your night vision.

This really seems to work! I've had severe PF for 7 months; have used ice, rest, stretching, cortisone, inserts and night splint, all with minimal if any temporary improvement. After 3 days of using 36 LED 2x/day for 30 min. each time, pain is almost completely gone - actually I experienced very significant improvement after my initial half hour. It's easy and fairly comfortable to use - I wear a sock over it and put my foot onto a footrest.

I've had this product for about 2 weeks now. Shipping was excellent; very prompt and well-packaged. I am using this product for both my plantar fasciitis and a groin strain. Although I tend not to feel immediate pain relief from using, it has correlated well with improvements over a day or two. I don't seem to get much of an effect when the inflammation is low, but seems to help the most when things are "bad".

It does get hot after about half an hour of use, so don't tape it on and go to sleep or anything. If you're sitting in a chair, it is most comfortable to put the product on a pillow on the floor, and then put your foot on top of it. That way your foot isn't dangling off the product, which has a relatively high profile.

For the price, it's worth buying; there's nothing to loose.
Rating: 4 by David Long
I wish it was a little more comfortable to sit with my foot on, but it appears to be helping. My foot is at least on the road to recovery now. I appreciate the products, they were all of great quality, and the delivery was outstanding. They got here much faster than I expected.
