HEEL PAIN X "15" YEARS..GAVE UP..STARTING ALL OVER...HELPPosted by Bonnie on 5/02/98 at 10:39 (000106)
I decided after 15 years and lots of therapies in the past to try again to relieve this life altering condition...saw specialist...she sent me to another, she gave up...new MD says silicone heel cup, night splints and time...I did all this many years ago and gave up...injections, pysical therapy, orthotics, heel cups, stretching, ice, drugs, and then surgery to explore the nerve to my foot ...nothing worked so after the surgery I gave up....I have been thinking about this new procedure endoscopic facia release....can I get some feed back from anyone who was a long time sufferer and had this surgery?..one other thing...I really don't have severe morning pain...just a very little discomfort for a few seconds...then when I am in the shower, I feel like my bone is directly on the cement...like I have no fat pad...anyone else???

Hi I've been through it all too had problem for eight years now, only relief is from taking medication which I wish I had started taking years ago instead putting up with the pain I've pretty much given up also, had surgery, not the new procedure like you I thought about doing some followup on it then decided that I've had enough of spendin
all the wasted time and money so these quacks can live high on the hog

I am a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. There is a very large differential Diagnosis for heel pain. If your current Doctor has ruled out disease etiologies ranging from, Neurologic, Bone, Muscle, Fascial, and soft tissue problems then he or she is doing great. 15 years ago, MRI was not available. Neither were newer corrective proceedures. Any specific questions go ahead and write me.

Paul: What kind of medication are you taking and what results have
you been getting? Is there a time limit that your doctor is giving you to be on it and what potential side effects have you had?

Hi, first the doctor put me on neurontin, was,nt really for pain but he said people have been known to get relief from it, it did help me sleep better:] Then he put me on snynalgos which really helps with the pain. Instead of me trying to explain what it is and stuff type in synalgos on your search and you should be able to find info on it. I have not had any side effects. I,m sure their has got to be a pain medicine out there that would work for you, like I said before, I was dumb for putting up with the pain for so long, it took over my life, now at least I,m feeling like my old self again, and actually active.

I followed your advice and looked up Synalgos - it said 'generic Dihydrocodeine (codiene), containing Asprin, and Caffeine'.
There was a lenghthy list of possible problems included allergic reactions & severe stomach problems. If anyone had previous reactions or stomach problems from NSAIDs they should be careful of this stuff. Also, codiene can cause a terrible constipation problem. My mother had some of that stuff when she was dying of cancer - before they would give her morphine - and it really caused her alot of intestinal & bowel problems which are too morbid to go into here.
Taking strong drugs like codeine may give some pain relief but also at a price -- and if taken over a long period of time many may be worse for your body than the original problem... so please be careful, Paul, and good luck to you with your PF.
