Masters Track&Field sprinter who popped his heelPosted by Carlos on 8/14/98 at 18:08 (001314)
I am 48 years old and I love competing in T&F sprint events. I was running in a 4x100 relay last Friday when I felt a pop in my heel. My podiatrist thinks it is a ruptured PF and has me in a bootlike walker that imobilizes my foot. I am also doing ice and naproxen. I plan to not run at all for many months until the pain disappears. He also told me to give up the sprinting. I really do not want to give it up but only if I can resume it without problems or causing serious damage to my feet. I need some advice which is specific to PF in aging sprinters.
