How often for acupuncture treatments?

Posted by Sue B. on 1/01/99 at 00:00 (002982)

Thanks for posting about your success with acupuncture. You say a good rule of thumb would be to allow a doc a series of 6 treatments. Would that be one treatment a week or is it more common to start with 2 or 3 treatments a week?

How did the treatments differ between the Korean acupuncturist and the Chinese acupuncturist?

Both the Korean and the Chinese suggest that treatments should be at least twice and preferably three times per week. The Chinese guy originally said it would take a couple of months of regular treatment, the Korean said that he would expect major improvement after the first six treatments.

My PF is in my left foot. The Korean guy put one needle in my left wrist, and then five or six at strategic places around my left foot - including right into the most painful spots on the heel.

The Chines guy put two needles in my right hand, then st strategic points on my lower left leg, and a couple into the foot. He also 'cupped' several points on the left leg.

I have also been on heavy doses of Vitamin C, and have just started glucosomine sulfate.

Best wishes
