Spurs or InflamationPosted by Sylvia on 1/03/99 at 00:00 (003002)
Thanks Orie for info on leather shoes, but I also feel that Spurs are one thing,PF inflamation is another.
I have no bone growth, but the pain is very bad, shoe inserts help a little, cortisone lasted for about a month. But I will try anything!

You are right... they are two different things. I have a spur in my right foot and the pf in the other...Guess which one hurts worse? The left. The dr. says this foot is in the process of having the tendon detach but has not yet had the calcium fill in to form the spur. Which I believe, since the left foot did not start to hurt till about 7 mos. after the first. I am encouraged by this because I am DILIGENTLY now trying to baby the left foot so the the spur will not form. But it is tough. Fortunately I have a very understanding and helpful husband. Good luck.

Welcome, fellow sufferer. Sometimes I think this board should be called Misery Loves Company. But -- there are lots of good ideas contained here. I'm sure you have spent lots of time reading many of them already. Also, there's a lot of support here too from friendly caring people.
Agree on inflamation vs. heel spurs. I have PF in both feet, plus a heel spur large enough to be Xrayed on the right, just the beginning of one on the left. I am convinced it's the PF, not the spur, causing the pain. Oh -- about one of your later posts, Scott is the guru of the main PF page, with its excellent resources. If you're on the message board, go to the bottom of any page where there's a link back to the main plantar fasciitis page (heelspurs.com). You will find articles, explanations of products, abstracts and much much more. I have already told a podiatrist and an orthopedic surgeon about the site.
