I'm back

Posted by Shaira on 1/23/99 at 00:00 (003772)

Hi fellow sufferers! Scott, I'm glad the board is back
! I really really missed it when it was somewhere else!

Here's an update on my situation: I have been using glucosamine and chondroitin for over a year now and here is my take on it. It really works. However, I have using the 'cheaper' brand for the past couple of months and I can feel a difference. I have to take at 10 pills to make it work! The normal expensive brand I was using, Solgar, is sooo much better. I got a whole lot better taking it.

Plus I do use those Flat Feet inserts another poster was talking about and they really work too. I've had orthotics, tons of podiatrists but those Flat Feet inserts are great.

My story, for those who don't know me, is that I couldn't walk, I actually had to crawl on my knees to use the bathroom. I was in incredible pain, and this board literally saved me. Now I'm taking ballet class 5 (!) days a week. I recommend 2000 mgs. of glucos and chondroitin.

However, due to the weather right now and the 'cheap' pills (see above) I am experiencing a lot of pain, but not like before. I finally used up all the 'cheaper' pills and I can't wait to get back to the regular ones (solgar) that I took.

The info I received is that Chondroitin is very hard for the body to absorb and I would do just as well with glucosomine sulfate alone which is cheaper and it is helping me.

I took NOW brand of Glucosamine&Chondroitin for 2 months and when I was better I credited something else and when I was off the G&C the pain came back as before. I am now taking the Schiff brand 'Pain Free' for the past week and will continue. Are these brands as good as your Solgar that you like?
