Tried everything short of surgery???????

Posted by Bennie on 1/26/99 at 00:00 (003897)

I have been a PF sufferer for almost 18 months now. I am 41 yrs old and a PE teacher. Some days the pain was unbearable. I have tried stretching, icing, therapy, ultrasound, rest, boot casts, regular cast, orthotics, etc.etc. and I still haven't had much success. The next step is surgery which I'm not sure I want to try. Any PF cases out there who just waited it out and found that time eventually healed the heel???(just trying to be a little funny)Let me know PLEASE

Which shoes did you try? I'm contemplating on the Birk sandals or clogs. Did either of these help you?

I'm at the same stage you are. I will probably have the surgery in May unless I have a miraculous heel heal. Good luck to you!

Bennie, Why not try Orthotripsy on the OssaTron? It's non surgical and 80-90% effective after one treatment?

Birkenstocks are the best
I have had pf for about 10 yrs. and have tried almost everything(not surgery). I was introduced to these sandals and shoes about 9 yrs ago and am hooked. I am in terrible pain 85% of the time and they help alot.
I would like some info on accupuncture if anyone can give me some.
It sounds great! Need to get checked to see if I have just pf or have heel spurs too. Sue Mc.

The shoes I have only been able to wear are Brooks 'Beast'. I must have the orthodics in or the pain just shoots right up into the achilles area after about an hour or so.

I did try acupunture and I had relief for about 2 weeks and then tried it again and noticed no difference.

I had acupuncture done and it helped relieve the pain for about 2 weeks. But when I tried it again there was no difference. Some people I have talked to say it has really helped them.

The specialist I am seeing doesn't like the odds with the surgery. He says there are too many other things that could go wrong after. The success rate he says is not that good. I trust the guy because he had PF for about 8 months also and his just went away. Lucky guy.

Have you tried birkenstock shoes yet? give them a month. Nobody has ever recommended shots or surgery to me but doctors. I hope you will think twice.
