PF started in right foot - seems under control but not 100% After doing a bouncy type yoga early last year the left foot started off!Tried physio, inserts, stretching and cortisone. Injection worked for a few weeks, then with new baby & a lot of walking and carrying - left foot is back to its worse state. Don't want to do surgery because of infant.

Depression is common, so is frustration. I also tried cortizone, hurt like the dickens and lasted less than two weeks, and it wasn't activity that reinjured it. Did you try custom-made orthotics? They worked for me, only thing that did. Majority of people here seem to be leery of surgery unless it truly is the last resort and it's being suggested for the right reason. In my case, anyone who suggests surgery to thin the tendon or remove the heel spur is an idiot, the heel spur does't hurt, it's there as the body tries to take the excess strain off the tendon which is too short. Removing the spur would only make it shorter still, and thinning it would make it that much more succeptible to tearing or snapping loose altogether. Best advice I can give is get custom orthotics if you don't have them already, get fitted for good supportive shoes that your inserts fit into (take the inserts with you and don't go to Foot Locker, Kenney, etc.), wear your shoes all the time, put them on before you get out of bed, barefoot is asking for trouble. Ice your feet whenever possible, put a few ice cubes in a ziploc bag, take out your frustrations on them with a rolling pin, wrap it in a handtowel and just wiggle your heel into it, I find that really helps me the next morning. Exercise your toes before you get up, scrunch them under and then flex them out like you're going to be in high heels (yeah, right, like that's going to happen). Do this slowly to warm up the tendon, you're less likely to tear it then.
