Doc Reports are in - Long Msg

Posted by Mary D on 2/01/99 at 00:00 (004345)

Hi gang, just wanted to keep all informed after all my appointments. I went to the GP, he sent me to the POD, who sent me back to the GP for Sed and RH blood work then went to the PT.
He is the scoop. My SED and RH factor are in mornal range. My feet are near the PF stage and more on the Myloflacial stage. I have tight tendons and my feet seem to be angled.
The PT reported I aparently 'walk worng', well there you go! I am not balanced on the whole foot. My calf and tendons are too tight and then she did a 'test' for Fibro. I have all but 3 pionts for Fibromyalgia. She is sending me back to the GP for a PrX or antidepresants so I can sleep better.
I will go back to the GP later.
I will go back to the POD in tow weeks for inserts. He talked about shots but I will wait until I learn to walk properly before I get shots and just aggrevate the foot area again.
So ther you have it. I am now researching Fibromylagia more. It all is making sense. My TMJ, hip, back and foot pain as well as feeling tired all time, and I thought it was just because I have twins! I am hopeful.
Happy feet to you. Mary D

This really makes be think. I had a terrible bout with TMJ about 10 years ago. After about 5 years of pain, meds, arthroscopic surgery, splints, and a changed life, I had surgery where the discs in the joint were replaced with cartilage from my ear. I have had no problems since. I also am careful with my back after one bout which put me in bed over Christmas for about 10 days! Is there a connection?

Wow, your symptoms sound very similar to mine! They pretty much told me the same thing except about walking wrong. I also had alot of trouble sleeping (for the past 6 months) I'd goto bed between 2am and 4am and get up between 6am and 8am! I was a walking zombie! Finally I tried Melatonin (reluctantly) and WOW! I picked up 'Source Naturals' Melatonin Peppermint flavored sublingual from Wal Mart and all you do is put one tablet under your tongue and you'd better be heading to bed very soon! This stuff knocks you out for right around 8 hours. If you get up before 8 hours you feel like lead, go back to bed and finish up that 8 hours and you feel like a million bucks. I used it about 4 to 5 nights and I've been sleeping normal since and I quit using it after the first 4 or 5 nights

Get those Orthos for your shoes. They really help. I tried the dr. sholes inserts but they are too flexible. The orthos from your doc are hard plastic and when you first hold them you think they will make your feet hurt even worse but they really cradle your feet and help alot. I got the sport orthos which only come to the mid part of your foot and dont cover the entire foot. Like em alot. Cant walk in shoes without them!

What is fibromyalgia? I suspect it is something you have when there is no cure for what you really have (or at least the docs don't know what else to do!). My niece has had TMJ practically all her life producing disabling headaches even as a child and after two surgeries still no relief. They now say she has fibromyalgia! I am suspicious.

I have a friend with fibromylgia. She was referred to a arthritis specialist - apparantly very similiar symptoms. Her shoulders and sometimes other muscles get very hard and painful. She was also found to have a rotator cuff problem (shoulder). She's doing well now with medication and P.T. I won't have much faith in podiatrist for PF. Inserts and excerise seem to be the answer. Injections are only temporary. Just takes sooooo long for relief. Very best wishes to you. God bless.
