The kind of orthotic to stay away fromPosted by Helene on 2/01/99 at 00:00 (004347)
My first orthotic was a hard plastic which was prescribed by an orthopedist. I could never wear them, as they hurt too much. The next few drs. told me those were wrong for me, as I had an inflexible, rigid, high-arched foot, & therefore needed a more flexible device.
If your feet are the same as mine, I would stay away from the hard ones. Don't waste yr money like I did.

I had two pairs of custom made orthotics, one semi-rigid totally irritated my foot and the second softer but didn't help. I found an orthotic person who sold me an orthotic called the accomodater by Ali-med. she adjusted it some for me but it was a pre molded soft for $50.00
It hasn't totally cured me but it seems the most effective and dosn't irritate my foot more.
