Being fitted with custom orthotics

Posted by Sue on 4/12/99 at 00:00 (006118)

I've been to a podiatrist three times and have insurance authorization for a pair of custom orthotics. The one the podiatrist does is a rigid material covered with a thin layer of foam. I have tried a Spenco hard orthotic and Birk cork orthotic, neither of which worked. Does anyone have suggestions what type of custom orthotic is best? I had trouble wearing Birk sandals.

My orthotics are made of a ground up cork material with a special foam heel cushion under the nylon covered black neoprene foam. It is my second pair, and I am very please with them.
