The cast helped me!Posted by Sandra Z. on 5/23/99 at 00:00 (007166)
Letty, you make a good point: people who try a cast need to wear a shoe on their other foot that has the right size heel so their legs are equally long and their backs don't get thrown out of whack. I wore a cast in January, but I was lucky enough to have a doctor who warned me about your problem....the same doctor who operated on my back a few years ago! I made sure my shoe matched my cast, and had no back pain. Plus, I followed the cast with lots of PT (and Vitamin C and Sam-e) and it worked--yesterday I walked in a charity event--2 miles at a fairly fast clip, with no pain today!
