stopped in my local birkenstock store today. they will have a showing of 25 NEW birkenstok shoes and sandals later this month. birkenstock is apparently going to hit the american market hard with it's new line.

Barbara, how comforting to know there are others stuck in lace up shoes. I also wear a 7 and have tried all kinds of shoes. Easy Spirit do seem to be the best. My family has a hard time believing I can't wear anything but sneakers right now. Cast is currently on left foot.

This is the first time that I have seen this message board. I am really glad to see that there are other people who have chronic problems with their feet. I was beginning to think that I was losing my mind. I am currently in my third cast since July on my right foot. As if having two carpal tunnel surgeries (right hand last Jan and left in March) wasn't enough, I was diagnosed with Tarsal Tunnel syndrome in June. I can really only wear tennis shoes, but even then I have to put heel pads in them with the centers cut out in order to be comfortable. I know that my doctor must think that I make all of this stuff up, but my God, who would want to wear casts.
Thanks for the info about the Easy Spirit shoes. I have often wondered if they are really as comfortable as the commercials state. I haven't worn dress shoes but twice in over a year.
