I need some opinions...

Posted by Sara on 9/26/99 at 00:00 (011273)

Hello everyone!
I think I may have spurs or PF in my right heel and ankle, but am not really sure. It all started about 5 months ago when I noticed a very sharp pain on the bottom of my right heel when I first got out of bed or out of a chair. Once I am up walking around, the pain goes away. (Until of course I sit down again and decide to get up !) Lately , the right side of the ankle feels tight and it usually spreads up the back of my heel to my calf. I am a teacher, and used to be a bank teller for 7 years, so I am thinking that this is a major factor, as I am always standing. It is really strange, because I only have pain when weight is first applied to that foot. Do people with PF have pain with every step they take? I am going to the doctor in a week, because I am tired of the pain. I would appreciate your thoughts , comments and suggestions. Thanks!

I have it in my right heel also, and if I overdo it, I can have pain with every step I take. It is worse right when I get up, but can hurt all day long too. I am wearing an arch support and heel pad and am doing the stretching exercises. I believe mine was caused by jazzercise done on a hard gym floor for a solid month in athletic shoes that were older and not as cushioned as they should have been. Mine is very debilitating. I am an exercise freak and now can hardly walk a mile without suffering later. any suggestions out there on what else I can do?

sara: you have the classic symptoms of Plantar Fasciaitis. Get some help fast before it gets out of hand and becomes chronic. Go to a Foot and Ankle Orthopedic specialist or a well recommended Poditrist.
