Has anyone tried seeing an osteopath?

Posted by Nancy S. on 12/11/99 at 00:00 (013596)

Hi, I'm new, though my heel spur / PF is now 8 months old. I've been seeing a podiatrist who tried cortisone shot, antiinflammatories, night splint, generic shoe inserts, all to no avail. He gave (well, they cost me $300) me custom orthotics in September. They have helped a little, but not enough. Still can work only 2 or 3 hours, and I have been depressed and exhausted for months from this condition. After reading messages here, I went out today and bought Birkenstocks, and met another customer there who said that Birkenstocks and regular visits to an osteopath for several months has had her pain-free now for about 8 months. She highly recommended osteopathy. Has anyone had any experience with this? I am scheduled for EPF surgery on Jan. 26 and have become terrified at the thought of this no-return drastic step. Please, any advice? Thanks.

Saw an osteopath when I first got PF pain. Very soothing but didn't help at all.
