Re: what is important about bromelain

I'm no expert, but I have researched bromelain pretty thoroughly on the Internet. The important part of bromelain is not the milligrams. It is the gdu's -- which I believe is gel dissolving units. Apparently, it's the quiantity of gdu's that determines the strength of the bromelain, not the milligrams.

1,500 to 1,800 gdu's is supposedly considered a heavy dose. The caps I take are each 500 mg. and 600 gdu's. I take at least 3 caps a day, sometimes 4, so you can see I am taking a heavy dosage. I haven't experienced any adverse side effects at all. But again, it's not the milligrams that counts, it's the gdu's. Good luck with it.
