cortisone shots do not heal the underlying cause of the pain. I look at them as extended pain pills, with the relief lasting a different length of time for everyone. The one shot I had only lasted a week or even less. Yours could last much longer of course. I believe that if the foot does not heal up during the time the shot is in effect, that the pain will return as it wears off. That is why it is important to still treat the foot carefully, so as not to cause any more damage to the injury, even though you are not aware of it due to the masking effects of the shot.
