Bone Scan Results

Posted by Stephanie S. on 3/25/00 at 00:00 (017819)

Just got the results from the Bone Scan in the mail. Go figure!!
I didn't even get the courtesy of a phone call. Little put off..
sorry. All it says is 'Your bone scan shows Plantar Fasciitis...
continue your Celebrex'. Nothing else...no referral...no phone call
explaining...nothing. My reaction: 'No Joke Sherlock'....already
knew this...that's why I came back. Ya know? So...what are these
'Hot spots'?? Is this just showing inflammation? Steph

Stephanie, your results sound all too familiar. Just because there are 'hot spots' - doesn't mean they've found any additional source of problems for you. The 'hot spots' can be just from increased blood flow from inflammation (from what I understand).

I'm happy that there isn't anything really sinister going on in your foot, but I know that it's frustrating to feel like you're back at square one.

At least you know that you probably don't have a stress fracture-- so the test wasn't a waste after all.

I do sympathize with your feelings about the lack of concentration by which you are treated.

What treatments are you using now, and what ones are you curious about but haven't tried yet?

I'm sure you can get lots of advice about a conservative next step here.

Thanks...I'm taking the Celebrex, change of cute shoewear to ugly
and comfortable (ha),and wearing night splints. Also..massage,and
just now trying the towel rolling. I'm glad it didn't show anymore
damage..just disapointed that I didn't even get a phone call from
a nurse.I feel like I'm back at square one. I took 1 cort.shot in
the heel and recently took a steriod shot in the hip. I guess I just
expected the doc to say it's not showing anymore damage...so..let's
try this ,this,and this...and I didn't get that. I'm curious if the
air cast would help or this hard casting I keep hearing about. Don't
know. Thanks for all of the support and advice..I really appreciate
it. Good to know someones listening. Steph

Towel rolls are good but you really should exercise the opposing muscles. See my post, a few down below, where I describe an exercise you can do at home. Take it easy with the cortisone!
