got a wheelchair

Posted by SuzanneK on 4/20/00 at 00:00 (019073)

Well, Wednesday I broke down and rented a wheelchair to use at school, to keep me from having to walk around so much. I'm not using it in the classroom, but in the hallways when I have to accompany my class (3rd graders need escort service wherever they go, LOL). I must admit, I am having fun. If you ever want a lot of attention, show up at school in a wheelchair! People I don't even know are concerned and worried about what is wrong with me. And my kids are dying to take a turn pushing ME around! Another bribe to hold over their heads - only the reliable and trustworthy get to push Teach down the hall! On the plus side, my foot is definitely feeling better since I am resting it. Go back to the pod in 2 1/2 weeks and we'll see what he says then. And what's that saying about a rolling stone . . . LOL

You have such a great attitude. And you must be a great teacher to have so many 'volunteers' to push you around. I hope this brings you much success in the battle to regain mobility. I've been told by many that I too need a respite from being on my feet too much. Unfortunately, I can only squeeze in a weekend or two. Good luck! Feel better-dfeet

I think that is great! Congratulations! You are taking charge of your illness.

Ya know those little motorized carts at the grocery store?? I am so tempted to hop on one sometimes. But, I'm afraid I will be keeping it from some frail little old lady who needs it worse. Other times, I have my small son with me, and the rest of the time, my list is too long to fit in that tiny little basket anyway. And ya know those Hovercraft motorized wheel chair commercials on TV? Some days I just know, I need one of those!

Hang in there!
