Yes, Alan, I have morning pain. I find that if I massage first thing that helps, but then my thumb got stiff. Now, I have a massage ball.
My next step is to get some of these healthy sandals like Birks.
We have a very limited selection in my city, and I'm waiting for catalogs I've ordered off the web.
The biggest adjustment for me, besides the pain and having to be careful, is not going barefooted around the house. I've reduced barefootedness by better than 50%. I'm sure I'll be more diligent with sandals.
Still, my very worst pain is standing still in one place. Movement is better than being still.
