Scheduled for EPF surgery

Posted by Diane on 5/20/00 at 23:36 (020658)

I am scheduled to have epf surgery on both feet this coming Thursday. My doc is a podiatrist in with several orthopedic docs, actually he is one of 3 podiatrists there. Anyway, their office is HIGHLY respected in our community as excellent ortho surgeons. I am putting my trust in their hands. Anyone have any 'good' things to say about epf? My doc has done well over 100 of these procedures and seems to think I will get along just fine. I sure hope so. Can you tell I am alittle nervous?? Thanks in advance for any support!

EPF can do the trick. The recovery time can be anywhere from six weeks to six months. Both feet will take longer to heal. If he has done over one hundred surgeries the experience is there so there is no learning curve for this doctor. So long as you know that it may not help and could come back go for it.!!!

Dr Zuckerman,

Would you suggest one foot at a time? I suppose I could ask my doctor too, but just wondered what your thoughts were. I have been thinking about that too, I may just ask him to do one at a time.

Thanks for replying!

My own patients get only one foot at a time done. Ambulation is very important for healing. With two feet you will either walk like a duck or hurt any parts of your lower extremity.
