Metatarsal pain ----- question for Dr Z. & others

Posted by Steve P on 5/29/00 at 20:18 (021055)

I am at the 3 month mark with PF & am seeing some improvement. Much of my heel & arch pain has subsided, but my metatarsal joints are still very sore. Metatarsal pain is now my main problem.
Am I correct in assuming that the same PF treatment program that I have followed to date (rest, massage, gentle stretching, icing, night splint, vioxx) is also appropriate for the metatarsal pain?
(I use 3/4 length hard orthotics & have recently put a Dr. Sholl's foam pad beneath the orthotics for more cushioning.)
I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions! Thanks....Steve

Yes. In addition, a metatarsal pad placed behind the met heads is very helpful. This will take some of the weight bearing stress off the joint as you walk.
