Response to AlanK re: Water Testing

I was reading a book on nutrition yesterday when I came across some info on water testing.

This book says that the highest lead levels occur when you first run the water in the morining. It suggests having a bathe or shower before you use the faucet used for drinking water. Then fill a container and put it in the fridge for drinking and cooking. That way you don't have to flush out the taps all day long.

It suggests you don't boil water longer than 5 minutes - any longer concentrates contaminants.

For water testing:

Contact American Council of Independent Laboratories 1629 K St NW Suite 400 Washington DC 20006 phone 202-887-5872 or call EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline 800-426-4791 for the name of a lab that can test your water.
