Do any of you have a high arch?

Posted by Sue R on 7/17/00 at 12:09 (023427)

I have a very high arch and the doc says that PF is more typical in low arches or over-pronators. Does anyone know the scoop regarding this subject?

Thanks for the help!

I recall reading some of Scott's data that suggested that most people with PF do not have high arches.

Makes sense, after all if the arch is high and does not collapse with weight on it, then how can one over-stretch the facsia to cause PF ?

I have PF & a high arch, but the arch lowers when I stand, which I guess strains the fascia.

My arches are very high. When I went barefoot I left prints of my heel and the ball of my foot. I cannot wear many type of slip on shoes because my arch (instep) will not fit in the shoe.

I have a higher than average arch... high but not extreme.

Interesting. My Pod said PF is typical in people with high arches. I have an extremely high arch.

I also have a very high arch. I have been told that a high arch is more prone to nerve problems than mechanical problems such as classic PF. However, my pain does not seem nerve-like in nature -- ie it is not burning or shooting.
Good luck.
