Young child with a heel spur

Posted by Monte K on 9/14/00 at 13:56 (028213)

I would like to know what would be the best for my five year old son that was diagnosed with a bone spur on the bottom of his heal. It was suggested to see a surgeon. We have an appointment next monday. Will this effect him later in life as far as physical activities etc. Is surgery a good idea? Would the orthescopic method be the best way to go?

If there is no pain there is no problem. If there is pain it is probably from a biomechanical problem that can be solved with orthotics. Don't take a spur out just because it is there. Lots of people have spurs and never have a problem.
