Hi Cindy.
It can take two weeks or longer to become comfortable with new orthotics. If the one foot is that sore, even when wearing your Birks, it may take a while. Are the orthotics hard or soft? Softer material is great for a sore foot or feet to become used to the support. The inserts must be interfaced with your shoes also. You may want to try wearing the shoes and inserts even when you are sitting with your feet up relaxing, like watching tv, or reading a book. This is still helping your feet become used to the support. Go slow. I agree with Dr. Z. Do not wear them to excercise if they are still hurting you.
Good luck!
