Tired Feet

Posted by KellyD on 11/27/00 at 13:37 (033646)

I've never seen anyone mention this - but I had EPF on my right foot 8 weeks ago and have done really well. Never realy had much pain, and the PF pain was gone from the beginning, but my feet - both of them - seem to get really tired after doing a lot of standing (i.e., holiday cooking, entertaining, etc). Has anyone else experienced this? Is it maybe just from being off of them for so long? It's almost like they need to toughen up. If so, how long did it last, and what can you do to make them feel better?

From what I have read on the board, Kelly, your feet DO need to toughen up, but slowly and gently. Other muscles and tendons are compensating for what was cut during your surgery. PLEASE don't overdo!!! You don't want to set your recovery back, especially since you are doing so well. Some people take up to SIX MONTHS to recover from surgery like yours. Let your feet adjust gently. All my best, B.

Best advice around be tough by resting your feet and realizing that you have surgery on the most important part of your body and the structure that you place the most weight upon. just remember that a person who weights 125 lbs walking an average of 3000 steps per day will place about 125,000 lbs of weight on those feet and you had surgey. Think you rest alittle rest . Without if you will have continued foot pain for six months to a year
