What are the symptoms of heel and/or bone spurs?

Posted by B Lloyd on 12/17/00 at 13:34 (035120)

I am a professional administrative disability claims representative. I take disability applications from individuals for a government disability program. I have symptoms that are very like those of my claimants who have been diagnosed with heel spurs. About 5 years ago, I began an aerobics program but had to stop because the balls and heels of my feet became sore after excercise (especially treadmill). This was my first experience with this pain. The pain subsided after I quit the exercise program. I am 51 years old and have gained about 40 pounds over the last 4-5 years. I am again experiencing heel pain and a soreness in the back of my ankle when I first get out of bed and anytime I spend over 30 minutes on my feet.

Does this sound like heel spurs? If so, should I see a podiatrist or and orthopedic physician?

Hi,

This could also be Achilles Tendonitis. You see whenever a tendon is strained or over used such as in Sports and or standing or your feet alot then the tendon will go into a relaxed shortened position, especially when sleeping. So early diagnosis and quick , simple effective treatment is very important. Go to a podiatrist , orthopedic foot and ankle specialist.
The most important piece of advice don't wait until you are filling out your own disability application. This has to be diagnosed now.

If the balls of your feet along with the bottom of your foot was hurting, you might be able to go back to you exercise routine with the proper shoe gear. First you do need to have you symptoms checked out by a doctor be for the get worse. Dr. B.
