intersection syndrome of the wrist

Dear Doctors,

I have had intersection syndrome for about 7 years. I find it gets better with strengthening, though I am not able to type free of pain. When I flex my wrist I feel grinding inside. I can also hear a clicking noise. If I do this a few times my wrist will make a louder cracking noise and then it feels like it has been 'released.' Do you reccommend a steriod injection. Do injections work long-term or just in the short-term? Is surgury my only option? I ask because it has always felt as though my wrist is tight and the tendons are grinding against one another. When I got the injury I used a splint, then went for pysio and even tried the Sonorex.

Thanks,

Jonathan
