bone bruise

Posted by Pam P on 2/08/01 at 14:13 (038449)

My mother had a fall in the house. Result of bone scan was a 'bone bruise' to the back of the knee. It is 2 and 1/2 months later. She is walking now with a walker but feels the healing is very very slow. Is this common?

The healing is slow and you should have a follow up examination to the knee, hips , lower back. May need an mri to evaluate the inside of the joint and its surrounding tendons and ligaments.

Unfortunately she can't have an MRI due to pacer wires left in from heart surgery. Othopedic surgeons 'feel' ligaments did not sustain injury from their exam.
