re; surgery

to P> Helm - I am two weeks ahead of you with surgery and I also had veins and all sort of muck resticting the nerve. Its a very tricky op and I must say I have had a lot of pain under my foot where the specialist says the nerve is still agrivated in the ankle where he operated. I will be in a cast for 6 weeks in all. Most upsetting and drepressing after pain for so long. However, I am forced to bed rest and if it helps its worth it as my life has been hell for years. We love travelling etc. and I have been a wimp about walking, etc. DO NOT OVERDO IT AND CAUSE SWELLING AS THIS OF COURSE WILL RESTICT THE NERVE AGAIN! Whal a bore it is but there is no quick fix as far as I can see this is my second op and the first was a disaster (with an inexperience surgeon)as I was given no aftercare instructions and the wound actually went septic and caused dense scar tissue. Good luck and keep in touch. Carol in Africa.

Carol,

Thank you for writing me! I am so glad to her from someone else with
this condition. I don't know anyone else that has ever had this. I am
like you , I love to travel and it has really been HELL for me too. I
have had this for around 5 yrs and was just diagnosed maybe 2 yrs ago. I
have seen several Dr.s and they all had different diagnoses.. I did a
lot of research of my own on the internet. I am so glad I had the
surgery because I felt sure that it was Tarsal Tunnel. Two other Dr's
said that it wasn't and that they thought it was Idiopathic Neuropathy
and that I would just have to live with it. ANyway, I am rambling.. I
am just thrilled that you responded. Please let me know how you are
progressing..

Thanks again,

Patti Helm

Great to hear from you - our problems sound similar and I hope you are doing OK. Yesterday I had a better day - the evening are so bad with pain. However today I have just got up and am able to just balance with my foot and crutches - feel a million dollars for it!! Its summer here so am going to sit in the garden now. I will communicate in a few days when anything great happens! Keep chin up as we say. Carol
