PF in Remission Again - Lessons Learned

Posted by rock cogar on 5/29/01 at hrmin (049294)

Hi,

A month ago I had a flare-up in my PF due to working on the car (squatting down on my toes) !

1. What Helped.
No running uphill
when swimming, push off pool walls with heels
massage with aspercreme up to 6 times/day
when biking, position pedal further back - towards heel
no squatting down on my toes !
no calf stretches with an unsupported heel (never stretch on stairs!)

2. What did not make a difference
Amount running (no running uphill - hike uphills)
Amount biking
Amount swimming (no toe wall push offs)

I now think that one is never cured of PF, just in remission at best. So I guess I will for life avoid doing the 'bad things'.

Note the 'bad things' are very clearly different for all of us.

I wonder how we could ever be cured of PF when we will always have the heel spurs?? I believe the two go together...I have gotten to the point I just thank God for the good days.

Paula, all the evidence suggests that the heel spur is not the cause of the pain, but the body's response to the injury to the fascia.
