Plantar Fibromatosis

Posted by MartinEileen on 6/05/01 at 08:26 (049976)

Dear Doctor,
We have some questions about an abnormality called plantar fibromatosis.
How does it originate?
We think it is a fibrous material forming in the centre of a tendon or muscle causing pain during the gait cycle. Could it be anything else?
How can it be treated?

Thank you for your time,

Yours sincerely,

Martin&Eileen (orthopeadic engineer students).

Acommodative insert is usually the treatment of choise as long as it works. The fibroma can be cut out but there is a high incident rate of its return. Dr. B.
