To Nancy S. on your shoulder

Posted by Beverly on 6/28/01 at 12:47 (051755)

Nancy,

I just now read your shoulder saga. Making a new post so it doesn't get lost down the page.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. After all you went through with your feet and ankles, to now have your shoulder messed up must feel very unfair.

My Dad tore his rotator cuff some years back. He went to PT and said the exercises helped some. He opted not to have surgery but I think that had more to do with his age than anything else.

Could your foot and ankle specialist refer you to a shoulder specialist? We learned the hard way with our feet that some PT exercises were good and others horrible. Perhaps, a shoulder specialist could set up a better treatment plan.

Like you, I've had tendonitis in my wrist (and in my case elbow). When mine flairs up, nothing helps me more than staying off the computer or at least reducing my computer time.
Keep us posted,
Beverly

Hey Beverly, thanks for your post. Yah, I'm struggling hard to not get as depressed about the shoulder as I did about the feet. Very painful, though. My mother had this once, and she said it was the worst pain she's ever had, bar none -- I'm seeing what she meant.
Are there shoulder specialists? I didn't even know! My sports med. doc is away this week, it turns out, but I spoke with one of his cohorts and he said he's sure my doc will fit me in if I call early Monday. So I'll do that and see what happens. I started to get a bit panicky this week because I remember too well what happened when I waited way too long to find a good doc for my feet and start taking care of them -- you know that story.
Thanks again, Bev, and I'll sign off the way you do that I like so much:
See ya!
