explanation of rsd

Posted by susie on 7/02/01 at hrmin (052076)

RSD Reflex Sympathic Dystrophy affects arms, legs wrist and ankles. A acute problem usually following surgery, infection, fractures of the wrist or ankle. The trauma sets off misfire of the nerves in the effected area and results in limited to no movement of the limb.Wasting of the muscles, contraction od tenons and withering of the limb.
I started to show signs of this 4 weeks after tts surgery when I started PT. I am now 9 weeks and walking with 1 crutch most of the time and continued therapy. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the rsd?
