Posted by janice WHY on 7/13/01 at 02:12 (053012)

I WENT TO THE DOCTOR ON MONDAY, AND TOOK A X-RAY AND IT WAS POSITIVE THAT I HAVE A HEEL SPUR. I WAS PERSCRIBED A INFLAMMATORY DRUG, AND ADVISED TO GET INSOLES.(CROSS TRAINER'S INSOLES) I HAVE BEEN OUT FROM WORK FOR FOUR DAYS, AND MUST GO BACK ON MONDAY! I NEED HELP QUICKLY! PLEASE ADVISE. I WAS SEEN BY MY PRIMARY DOCTOR NOT A PODIATRIST; WOULD THIS PLAY A PART IN MY RECOVERY.

Hi,

The key to heel spur pain relief is early treatment. The treatment you have is a very good start. Read the heel pain book on this site. No bare feet, proper stretching. How long have you had this problem. I would get to a podiatrist as soon as possible. You need a full evaluation from a foot specialist.

I couldn't agree more. So many of the patients that we all see for heel pain tell us they were treated for months by their primary without any relief. That's months of wasted time if the right conservative treatments are not used.
