my husband's heel spur

Posted by Jean K on 7/21/01 at 19:44 (053937)

My husband has had trouble with a heel spur for about 4 months. He
recently went to a podiatrist, the podiatrist put a heel cup in his shoe
and gave him a shot of cortisone. My husband has had constant pain since,
and has so much trouble walking. Shouldn't he have some relief by now?
When I had a heel spur, the cortisone shot that was given, gave my relief
within 2 days, and I've never had any trouble since.
Please advise.

Local steriod injections will do one of three things.

1. immediate relief
2. severe pain for anywhere from a few days up to two weeks
3. Relief then will come back
4 No relief at all
5. I have seen in very rare situations cause more pain and then the pain stands. I have no idea why this happens . Never saw this in my practice . Did see this from a patient that came to me and told me every since he had a steriod injection the foot is worse off.

So how long has this post local steriod injection been going up for
