Criteria and location for ESWT search

Posted by jennyy on 7/23/01 at hrmin (054032)

I have suffered from chronic PF for 2 years now. Have tried all the usual-stretching, orthotics, injections, immobilization, night splints, taping, anti-inflammatories. Only get short benefits from some of these. Am looking for more info on ESWT and closest location to me (in North Carolina). Would like to have study information on long term follow up. Anyone have such info? Thanks. Jenny

Jenny,

I too am in the same boat as you. I have had PF for 3 years now and have recently been looking for doctors closest to the North Carolina area as well since I am also living in NC. If I find something I will let you know. If anyone else has any other information regarding ESWT locations for us, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

We are in New Jersey just outside of Philadephia.. We do the procedure in the office.without any need for any local or general anesthesia. We have many patients come to our New Jersey office due to our experence of over 20 months and over two hundred procedures. You will find our fees extremely fair. So e-mail heelhelp@bee.net or call 1-856-2097 and talk to anyone of our ESWT coordinators. They will send you a packet and answer any questions you may have. I hope that this is helpful to you.

I am currently seeing Dr. Mark Easley, Orthopaedic Surgeon at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC. I live about 3.5 hours away (down in SC) and have only been to see him twice so far. He has sent me to a Pain Management Specialist and a Physical Therapist both of whom are also at Duke Medical Center. These other 2 doctors report back to Dr Mark Easley so he can make an informed decision on how to proceed with my case. I have bilateral PF. I had bilateral Partial release by a podiatrist here in SC Feb of 2000. My feet are much worse since the surgery so I finally was able to get a doctor to refer me to Duke. However, I don't know if a referral is necessary. About 1 month ago when I was last at Duke to see Dr. Easley, he said he had just ordered the Ossotron for Duke. I go back the 3rd week in August. He has yet to decide if I'm a candidate for Ossotron treatment.
Best wishes to all my fellow sufferers!!!! It's great to have a place to visit where other people TRULY understand what a genuine BUMMER this PF thing is!!!

Go to the Healthtronics web site, and search by state for cities that have OssaTron machines...they will also have the doctors that do the procedure.
