Tapeing foot?

Posted by JoAnn Fl on 9/27/01 at 23:48 (061775)

Just how long is this tapeing necessary, (weeks, months) does it really do any good as far as healing PF? What are the next steps after tapeing? Is it usual to get a fungus from the tape?

Taping is used to decrease tension on the plantar fascia and can speed healing. It can also be used to allow increased activity while living with plantar fascia. It needs to be done intermittently ans overuse of tape may cause skin irritation, sometimes an allergic reaction to the adhesive in the tape but rarely skin fungus. Taping is an adjunctive treatment as opposed to a 'cure.'
