Chronic PF

Posted by Holly D on 10/17/01 at 09:26 (063134)

Hi, I've got a chronic case of PF. Had it for about a year. I'm also a runner. I've had injections, physical therapy, ultrasound, and custom made orthotics. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in New Jersy that specializes in sports medicine, especially runners injuries.
Thanks

Where in New Jersey do you live. We treat alot of runners. We are a group of doctors that specialize in heel pain and we all have the ability to perform ESWT if this is what is needed. Just tell me where you live and I then can help you.

Hi Holly: I live in NJ and can recommend a couple of 'running docs'. In North Jersey there is Dr. Richard Braver in Englewood 201-569-7672. He is a DPM and a foot surgeon. He is a runner and writes for Runners World magazine. In Central Jersey is Dr. John Connors, DPM and Sports Medicine in Little Silver. He is not a surgeon. He is a marathoner (just completed Chicago in 3:02). Of course, there is Dr. Z, an excellent practitioner, but he is not a running doctor per se.

Thank you,
I live in central jersey, but I'm willing to travel if someone can help me.

Hi,

Thanks alot! I don't think the doctor I was seeing is a runner. He told me over 90% of his patients get better. I seem to be in the minority.

Dr. Braver is an excellent running doctor. Dr. Z ( that's me) was a runner in my high school days but I woke one day realized that running is bad for your feet and anyway the girls never went out with track stars. I once ran the two mile in 10 minutes and 42 seconds. Is that still good today.

Dr Z: 10 min 42 sec for two mile; that's awesome! I had no idea. You're the man!
