Vibration therapyPosted by Glenn X on 11/03/01 at 12:59 (064055)
As a curiosity -- seems applying low-level vibration for a few minutes a day helps heal bones, particularly those with low mass, as in osteoporosis. Vibration levels are very low, 'like the slight shaking of the pavement as a truck rumbles by.' Apparently too, there's evidence that vibration can have a therapeutic effect on surrounding soft tissues.
Doesn't seem to be a consensus reason why this works. Perhaps it's something like the ESWT result.
