unexplained back of the foot pain

Posted by Lauren M on 11/15/01 at 10:48 (064822)

To whom it may concern:

Hello...I was wondering if someone could tell me the cause of a pain in the back of my foot. It only recently started hurting when I wear shoes that press on the bone. The pain is in the back of my foot, below my ankle and at the top of my heel. Is there anything I could do and should do to alleviate my pain and discomfort? Thank you

Lauren

Lauren:

I have not seen your foot so I can only consider the possibilities---the most common one known as Haglund's deformity. Haglund's deformity is an enlargement on the top portion of the back of the heel bone that often rubs against the back of shoes.
