Wheelchair by Christmas; Circulation?

Posted by EKC on 11/18/01 at 11:46 (064946)

I will be in a wheelchair by Christmas. FYI on my history w/PF, search for posts under the name 'EKC'
My doctor and I are now questioning whether the source of my pain is simply the PF.
I can walk maximum 5 minutes now, down from 15 minutes 3 months ago.

I've read about problems w/circulatory system might cause foot/heel pain.
Not sleeping well the last week. Feet keep waking me up; they feel like I'm cutting off their circulation.

What kind of doctor can test me for whatever circulation problems I might have?
What kinds of tests are there?

Thanks.

Hi EKC,

I'm no doc, but I did a search and went back the last year or so, reading your postings. Like a lot of us, it looks like you have had to put your life on hold. I read where you were first wanting another baby, but wanted to get rid of the pain 1st, Good thinking. Now it looks like you are facing life in a wheel chair.

I do think that can be postponed with the right type of doctors. You've given all the foot and ankle people a good shot at healing you, but it hasn't happened yet. I can see two treatments that may help. I don't think you have tried the ESWT treatments, have you? You may still be a good candidate.

What might postpone the wheel chair, is seeing a pain management specialist. These doctors focus on quality of life, not necessarily healing your foot problems. With the right meds, there is an excellent chance that you can be mobile for many more years. Personally, I don't think there is even a question about what I would do. I'd put the wheelchair off as long as possible. This is not a guarantee, but I may be able to help get you in touch with some people that can help you. If your interested, e-mail me at (email removed)

Best wishes
