post heel surgery

Posted by jessie on 11/28/01 at 20:32 (065566)

I had open heel spur surgery in April, seven months ago. The pain in my heel is as bad or worst. I have been through therapy, and a boot, i've done ultasound on in and I stretch and put ice on it, none of which has helped. My doctor recently told me I might have tarsel tunnel syndrome. I am wondering why the pain from my heel spur is still there and what is this new possible dianosis! any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Open heel spur surgery can take a very long time to get better. There are some things that need to be ruled out
1. Stress fracture.of the heel bone.
2. TTS or posterior tibial tendonitis.
3. Achilles tendonitis.

I would get an MRI. If there proves negative. I would consider ESWT for this post surgical pain. We have used ESWT on many failed heel spur operations
