Oh, how I can relate to your story.
I have been suffering with chronic pain from posterior tibial tendonitis and/or Tarsal Tunnel in my left inner ankle for over 7 years as the result of an athletic injury.
I have tried absolutely every treatment under the sun, except surgery.
I too have spent countless hours at doctors offices. I think I have seen every foot specialist in Los Angeles. Some suggest surgery, some don't.
Most opinions have been that surgery will most likely make my condition
worse. I've had MRI's, X-Rays, bone scan and nerve testings. Not one doctor can come up with a conclusive diagnosis. I've had several custom made orthotics and have tried tons of different shoes. Nothing has helped.
I've always been very active. I often used to run and play tennis.
Now, all weight bearing activity escalates my pain.
It sure has been frustrating. This injury has changed my life. But, I'll never give up hope and continue my search for relief. I'm always looking for new treatments and solutions.
In the meantime, I've basically learned to live with it. Somedays are better than others. I try to maintain a positive attitude. Unlike you, I must say that I do complain sometimes. Fortunately, I have very understanding friends and family.
As far as exercise, what works for me is STAIRMASTER'S new FREERUNNER Eliptical Machine. This machine is not like the other elipticals. The foot pedals are very flexible. Swimming is also great.
Nicole, know that you are not alone. I know we're going to get better. Keep experimenting with different things. Wait a little longer before a 3rd surgery.
I hope this helps.
