plantar fibromatosis

Posted by judy p on 12/02/01 at 19:45 (065936)

I have recently been diagnosed with plantar fibromatosis. I have worn custom orthotics for 3 years and try to stay off of my feet as much as possible. I am a 47 year old female, not at all overweight, stretch my plantar fascia twice a day, wear orthotics (always), and have taken several courses of NSAID's. I have given up all sports and walking for exercise. I went to two orthopedic surgeons, once of whom suggested a surgery to remove the problem; another said, absolutely do not have the surgery, it will only come back with a vengance. Which person do I believe, and what should be my next step? I feel so desperate, the pain is really limiting my life. Thank you very much.

Local steriod injections could help you. See a podiatrist they see more of this problem.
