SAS Shoes

Posted by Ed C. on 12/26/01 at 09:54 (067812)

I have seen SAS shoes mentioned in several searches. I can not find a web site or store where I can see them. What are SAS shoes and how can I see them? (I have also tried search on San Antonio Shoes)...

I haven't been able to find any website that shows them. SAS apparently does not permit them to be sold online. Here's a link to some photos of my new SAS shoes:

They come in many styles but this is one called 'Time Out'.

Back in the early 90's I bought some SAS shoes simply for comfort, because at that point I had not had any foot problems. I bought them at a store called Brown's Shoe Fit in College Station, Texas, right across the street from Texas A&M University.

When I moved to New Orleans in 1999, my shoes were wearing out and I looked and looked but simply could not seem to find any here in New Orleans. Then my pedorthist in Metairie, Louisiana supplied me with the pair in my photos.

After that, I found out that there is a SAS shoe store in Lafayette, Louisiana. SAS shoes seem to be terribly difficult to find.

P.S. Here's another idea for locating them. Since SAS shoes are worn by diabetics also, if a store advertises that they provide shoes for diabetics, or that they carry orthopedic shoes, they might carry SAS shoes. Also, you could ask your foot specialist about local availability of SAS shoes.

Carole, wasn't there a leaflet in the box your pair came in giving the address of the company that makes SAS shoes? If not, your pedorthist should have it. If you could find it and post it here, people could write to them for information about stockists.

I'm remembering Larry's query about North Face Targas - I dug out the leaflet with North Face's address and posted it. He wrote to them, got a pair, and loved them. That felt so weirdly good - being able, from England, being able to put someone in Montana on the track of shoes (from California) that helped!

Good idea, Julie! There wasn't a leaflet, but printed on the inside of the lid is the address of the SAS company:

SAS Shoemakers
101 New Laredo Highway
San Antonio, Texas 78211

Hope this helps.
