Other treatment options!!????

Posted by CatherineL on 1/10/02 at 14:49 (069537)

Hi again,

I'm on a rollercoaster ride of better and worse, depending if I'm going for laser treatments, so, no, still no cure.

The orthopedic surgeon recommending, night splint >3mths, walking boot thereafter, reumatologist (fibro or arthritis?), then maybe ESWT? Night splint is not a cure so far, reumatologist appt in 2 weeks...

I'm trying to max local resources before I spend a hefty price for a plane ticket, car rental and accomodations for out of province to Bayshore ESWT, so...

What's the thought on trigger-point injections for PF? I did a search on this site and there wasn't much info... if it's a covered treatment, is it worth a try...

I'd like to know before i get a referal from my dr for this, cause the cortisone shot was probably the worst thing I've experinced in my life, .... worse than labor,.... uh much worse than a kidney stone,... worse than everything - maybe I could get knocked-out for it?)

Thanx
Catherine

Another alternative treatment option that may be worth investigating is Prolotherapy. Although this didn't work for me, it has been known to be a successful alternative to surgery for injuries to the foot, back, and neck. If you do a search on the web for Prolotherapy(also known as Schlerotherapy) you will find alot of info and links to Doctors that specialize in this treatment. If anyone needs a prolotherapy specialist in Washington D.C. area, let me know. Good luck!

One major thing I forgot to mention. . because Prolotherapy is still considered an alternative treatment, getting insurance coverage can be a pain. My insurance is pretty decent so I am able to get some coverage but I have still been forced to spend alot of my own money
