Dr. Davis, intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerve?

Posted by Matt L on 2/07/02 at 14:37 (072929)

Below, you mention the intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerve. Where would the pain present in an entrapment of its lateral branch. I assume this presents diferently than an entrapment of the lateral plantar nerve.

The word 'dorsal' refers to the top of the foot, 'plantar' to the bottom.
The intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerve is a sensory nerve giving sensation to the skin on top of the foot. Entrapment of the lateral branch of the IDC could give pain on top of the foot radiating to the 4th and 5th toes.
