How much olive oil do you use????
Now that could get expensive!

Carmen: The olive oil would only be expensive if you used the extra extra virgin quality.

Hmmm....I was actually thinking about the quantity that you would use..
I cook only with Olive Oil (better for the heart!) and I know it's not the cheapest form...

...and Carmen, you could re-use the oil any number of times.

hmmm. I think I'll stick with cooking with it. ;-)

If you are going to use hot olive oil why not try the hot wax treatment used for treating arthritic hands.

OK, I dutifully did my homework by reading on the net, and found out that paraffin really is an accepted conservative treatment for PF! Maybe everyone knew this already, but I didn't. For example it's mentioned here:

http://www.steenwyk.com/pfasc.htm

along with stretching, orthotics, and other conservative treatments for PF. Neat, huh!

you only need a little, carmen enough to cover your heel
cheap olive oil is ok
what i usually do is warm the oil in a micro wave
but be carefull to finger test it first oil can get very hot
just soak your heel for a bout 15 mins twice a day

Just wanted to add on the paraffin....my PT sessions begin with a 15 minute parrafin wrap...nice and warm, relaxes the foot before the tough stuff begins!! They use an ace bandage soaked in hot paraffin and wrap the foot and ankle. Feels good!!! Bring a good book...
